Climate Declaration

Declare your project’s climate impact in Prodikt

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Once you’ve searched for and added products to your project—or imported them from an existing file—you can activate the climate declaration. You may remove products while the declaration is active. The information isn’t locked until you click "Generate Climate Declaration" in the final step.

When you click "Activate Climate Declaration", the information from your project is automatically structured according to legal requirements and transferred into your declaration.

When you’re ready to generate your climate declaration, it is exported as a file that can be submitted or uploaded to Boverket (the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning).

💡 Prodikt will also store a copy of your declaration for five years, including version management of all included products. This ensures you can easily comply with the law and its activation period requirements.

Activate the Feature

You can activate the climate declaration per project or with unlimited access, depending on your selected pricing plan (link to pricing will be provided).

Climate Declaration Steps

1. Enter Information

Location
Provide a valid address for the project. The address must be verified for the calculations to work properly.

Building
Specify the building type, number of floors, and total square meters.

Energy Class
A, B, or C. The classification is based on the primary energy number requirements for new constructions as per Boverket’s building regulations (BBR 2011:6). Defined in Section 7a of Boverket’s regulations (2007:4) on energy declarations for buildings.

Sound Class
A, B, or C. Enter the part of the building with the highest sound class, according to Boverket’s building regulations (2011:6).

Weight Percentage
Total weight of materials used in the load-bearing construction parts of the foundation and others.

2. Included Building Parts

Once you’ve created or imported your project into Prodikt, the system automatically identifies the building parts that must be included in the climate declaration, based on Boverket’s requirements—saving you time.

You can find the building parts included in Boverket’s handbook.

3. Changes

This section shows changes from the time you first calibrated your data. When you update products in your project, the original data from when you started the declaration is marked in gray. You can update the climate data in this graph at any time to see changes.
To calibrate a new starting value, do so in step 2 by clicking "Calibrate Climate Data."

Data Quality
These charts show the percentage of specific vs. generic product information.

4. Transport & Energy

Transport A4
Calculated climate impact in kilograms of CO₂-equivalent for transporting building products from the factory to the construction site. This value is calculated based on the project address and displayed in the "Transport" section of the climate declaration.

Construction Waste A5
Calculated climate impact in kilograms of CO₂-equivalent for building product waste generated on-site. This is calculated and shown in the “Construction Waste” section.

Consumption
Total consumption during the construction of the building.

5. Generate

In the final step, you enter details about the responsible party and the declarant to generate the climate declaration.

Property Designation
📌 If you don’t know the property designation, try Lantmäteriet’s “Min Karta” service where you can search by address.

Verification Documents
You can upload verification documents, which are stored with your climate declaration.

Definition of verification (Boverket):
To confirm that the climate declaration reflects the completed building, it is advisable that the most significant products in terms of climate impact are verified with documentation—called verifications.
Verifications include the purchased quantity of the building product. You do not need to separate built-in quantity from construction waste in the document; that distinction is made in the registered climate declaration. Note that products without purchase verifications can still be included in the climate calculation.

Coverage Rate

The coverage rate indicates how much of the building’s climate impact has been calculated.

This rate is used to scale the total impact, so the climate declaration represents the full building—covering products in structural parts, the building envelope, and interior walls.

The more products that can be calculated for climate impact, the more accurate the reflection of the actual building. High-volume or high-impact materials are especially important to include.

More info on coverage rate is available in Boverket’s handbook.

Once you’ve entered all the information, click "Generate Climate Declaration."

When you do, Prodikt will automatically generate a document and file that gathers, calculates, and summarizes your project according to current climate declaration requirements.

PDF
Prodikt also saves the declaration for five years. We recommend saving a personal backup copy.

Completed Climate Declaration

Prodikt stores the calculation basis for the declaration, as this is a legal requirement for the developer. All included products are saved based on the version that was current at the time of generation.

Download Files
You can always re-download the declaration files from the climate declaration page.
Note: If you make changes and recalibrate your declaration with the project in Prodikt, you must regenerate the files.
