Import Data and Start Your Project

Create and optimize your project in Prodikt

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Introduction

Prodikt supports existing workflows. When importing an IFC file (3D model) or an Excel file (calculation/material list) into a project in Prodikt, the data is analyzed and matched with either products or systems already available in Prodikt. To obtain product-specific data without requiring the user to manually recalculate or collect any data, the steps below can be followed:

1. Ensure Product-Specific Data

Many manufacturers have already registered their products in Prodikt. However, to ensure that the relevant products for your project are available, a requirement specification should be made for product registration in Prodikt. This helps ensure that product-specific data is readily accessible.

You can get help with requirement specifications by reading:

  • “Specification Texts – Private Sector”

  • “Specification Texts – Public Sector”

If a product lacks certain documentation and this is accepted, for example in a procurement, the product can still be registered in Prodikt. The product card may have some missing data, but when the product is added to a project, generic data will automatically be assigned to it, making things easier for the user.

2. Import & Review Products

Various types of files can be imported into a project.

If you are importing an Excel file, a standard template is available that supports the import process.

If the user is part of an organizational plan, the import can be configured to support organization-specific Excel templates.
If importing an IFC file, Prodikt fully supports all model types.

Regardless of file type, article numbers / GTINs / BIM objects are matched with products in Prodikt’s database. The project view displays the percentage of product-specific data, making it easy to see whether any products in the project are based on generic data.

3. Optimize the Project

If an import doesn’t result in a full match, it may be due to the product being missing from the product database or the import file containing incomplete data, e.g., missing article number / GTIN / BIM object.

Within the project, it’s easy to distinguish between generic and specific data. It’s just as easy to replace one or several products at once.

4. Analyze and Report

Once the project is complete, an analysis can be easily performed using the summaries for climate impact, circularity, and health/materials in the project view. A project report can be created, and a climate declaration can be generated if required.
