Ranking algorithm explained
Step 1. Competitors are identified
For the default market segment, all brands with published products in any subcategory your brand has a published product in are included.
For any other market segment, all brands with published products in any of the selected subcategories are included.
Step 2. A score is calculated
For each brand, the ranking score (0-1) is calculated as follows:
Based on the subcategories in the market segment, only consider those in which the brand has published products.
For these subcategories, calculate:
Sum of the brands number of unique downloaders in the subcategories
divided by
Sum of the total number (all brands) of unique downloaders in the subcategories
Or to phrase it differently:
The ranking score of the brand is the brand's percentage of the total audience, within the subcategories of the market segment, in which the brand has published products.
Step 3. The results are sorted and shown in a list
Finally, the brands are ordered by their ranking score (highest first), and a brand's rank is the same as its placement in the list.
